The OurSpaceLA Program: Where Jewish Experiences
Happen for Children, Teens and Adults with Special Needs and Unique Abilities at
Valley Beth Shalom in Encino CA, is seeking creative and innovative professionals
who are passionate about bringing their love and knowledge of Judaic Studies and/or
expertise in a related field: to neurodiverse children, teens and adults in a variety of 1 x
per week part-time informal educational and social settings.
If you can teach and reach students aged 4-18, or participants aged 19+ in an Arts
program, support them socially and emotionally, “think out of the box”, understand the
important role that the arts and multi-sensory experiences are in sparking interest,
engagement and participation, then a position in OurSpaceLA is the place for you.
Knowledge of Jewish Holidays, Hebrew, T’fillot, Brachot, Jewish Culture, Practices and
Values is recommended, and/or knowledge in various art mediums, cooking, yoga, etc.
Available Positions for 2022-2023
Co-teaching students aged 4-18 in an Informal Jewish Education/Experiential Model
Teaching adults aged 19+ In our Artistic Spectrum of Jewish Learning Adult Arts
program
Co-coordinating our Once a Month Teen/Adult Social Events
Preferred: One or a combo of the following…A minimum of 1-2 years’
experience in a school and/or camp setting, or have worked
privately with a Special Education credential, Hebrew/Judaic teacher’s
certification (Informal Educational Model), or you are a Certified Learning
Specialist, Speech and Language therapist, have an understanding of
AAC/Alternative and Augmentative Communication including Sign Language,
and/or are trained in Facilitated Communication (FC) or Supported Typing,
are a trained Behaviorist, and/or are an Art/Music/Dance Therapist, a
professional artist, yoga/movement specialist, OSLA has a place for you.
